While the rivers remain sealed with ice in winter, they continue to run free
in the foothills. As the thaw sets in, the snow exposes the water beneath, while thin
ice still cling to the riverbank, hovering above the water – a reminder of what
was, what is, and what will be.

NEGLIGEE

This striking phenomenon, as a whole, looks as if the direction

of time is uncertain.

Is the swift, cold, dark water gradually freezing into a crust of ice?

Or is it ice that chooses to expose part of the river?

People are not so different. At times we choose to open ourselves to others, and at other times we prefer to remain closed – though
