SURVIVAL INSTINCT
The Survival Instinct / Hellas Planitia
The biological nature of humans is a combination of instincts. We retain an animal foundation, yet our essence is dual.
The nature of the human being is inherently twofold. One of our key instincts is the urge to explore what we have not yet experienced.
Here you have been, but there – no.
Humans cannot always act against their instincts, but neither can they act against reason, feeling the value of objective truth.
We are free, but that also means we are bound to encounter the unyielding within ourselves – the aspect of ourselves in which our eternal
and unchanging nature resides. The installation offers a variety of ways to interact with the objects.

In front of you are objects of inanimate nature. But perhaps they were once alive? Perhaps someone once lived in this space?
When? Could it have been a being from which something was made? Or are these surfaces of a once-living planet – Mars? What exactly happened to Mars?
Mars governs the basic survival instincts and subconscious programs that trigger and regulate human action and energy – strength, adrenaline – within our inner life.
Mars controls powerful emotions and affects our fears. Everywhere, it brings an inner incomprehension, a desire to explore yet also to overcome.
Perhaps Mars hides from us new knowledge and the potential fulfillment of our cosmic ambitions. Yet for survival, perhaps we must remain grounded in our roots.
The mirror The Other Side offers a view from behind, a glimpse of the instinct we do not perceive in ordinary life. It is a dialogue between
one’s own essence and an entity that seems to have once been alive – a meeting, an acquaintance.
The Fragment of the Alien, like a stalagmite, reaches upward–seeking the touch of a hand. Nonfunctional, alien to the familiar table,
this small extraterrestrial object can serve as support for almost weightless, miniature objects – perhaps even immaterial ones.
Is it possible to place an intangible experience within physical space?
The Landing area Sofa
The shape of the Sofa is a metaphor for Hellas Planitia, formed by the crash of a meteorite. This is the origin of Mars' transformation, since
it was the meteorite crash that caused Mars to lose its atmosphere and life, its development.
