Castes
The ‘Castes’ capsule collection was created in collaboration with ‘FRESH.GLASS’ x ‘LAVDANSKYWORKSHOP’ local craft studios. This collection is a reflection in sculptural forms about the phenomenon of mystical light, subtle and quiet beauty, about the fusion of traditions and visual language of contemporary art.
À travers la collectioncapsule Castes, née de la collaboration des ateliers d'artisanat basés à Moscou, ‘FRESH.GLASS’ et ‘LAVDANSKYWORKSHOP’, une pensée se matérialise par la sculpture. Ces œuvres interrogent le phénomène de la lumière mystique, la beauté, subtile et tranquille, ou la rencontre des traditions et du langage visuel propre à l'art contemporain.
Church aesthetics
The concept underlying the ‘Castes’ is the love for orthodox church aesthetics and native heritage. Thick as tar, the smooth surface of the black glass in combination with silver-plated brass works as an image of a jewelry monolithic cosmic body.
The research process began with a reinterpretation of the eighth-century image of a Georgian icon crowned with precious stones set in castes. Castes, or metal mounts for jewelry, served as the prototype for future tables. The brass sheet, like a caste, fixes and embraces the glass, taking its shape and manifesting its appearance.
Le concept qui sous-tend les Castes est une passion pour l'esthétique associée à l'église orthodoxe et pour le patrimoine national de ses créateurs. L'étendue noire des surfaces de verre, épaisses comme de la résine, associée au laiton argenté, fonctionne comme une image d’un corps cosmique – holistique et monolithique comme un bijou.
Le processus de recherche a commencé par une réinterprétation de l'image de la couronne d'une icône géorgienne du VIIIe siècle, couverte de pierres précieuses serties dans des castes. Les castes, des montures de bijoux en métal, ont servi de prototypes pour les futures tables. La feuille de laiton, telle une caste, fixe et embrasse le verre, prend sa forme et la met en valeur.

The sculptural composition of two tables is completed by a thin elongated mirror immersing an observer in mystical contemplation. The strictness and purity in shapes balancing at the intersection of functional design and abstract art combine the archaic and the modern in a timeless dialogue.
At the moment, the ‘Castes’ collection includes three items (two tables and mirror) and still under development. The capsule will be further replenished with new items.
La composition de deux tables est complétée par un mince miroir allongé, plongeant l'observateur dans une contemplation mystique. La rigueur et la pureté des formes, entre design fonctionnel et art abstrait, allient passé et modernité dans un dialogue intemporel.
Pour le moment la collection ‘Castes’ comprend trois objets (deux tables et un miroir). Elle est toujours en cours de développement.La capsule seraréapprovisionnée avec de nouveaux objets.
