ASH
ASH is a meditation on the idea that sometimes the understated «back» of an object carries more significance and sincerity than its front. The reverse side reveals genuine intentions, where the work’s true beauty is intricately woven. Intriguingly, the stone-like textured surface resides on this hidden side, seldom visible–especially through dark glass–despite traditionally being considered the «face» in classical glassmaking practices.
During the glass-melting process, meticulous attention is given to the underside of the mold, carefully crafted to reflect its counterpart.
Anticipating the outcome requires a reversed approach, envisioning how the material’s inherent nature will respond to the conditions imposed upon it.
Once fused, the glass pieces bear intimate traces–akin to cherished «memories» etched on the surface
– capturing the intricate interplay of layered history and interactions.
Ironically, this surface is often concealed or subjected to further processing, its imperfections overlooked,
reflecting a cultural tendency to obscure the original essence of the work.
Process of creation
Within this collection, small canvases organically unite
as a formidable whole, their most captivating essence unveiled on the hidden side, often subject to meticulous glass melting processes.
The object's creation history serves as a vessel for meaningful events, inspiring both its name and the imprints left by the dedicated team.
